Critics have been full of praise for a new London canvas exhibition called Candy Coated Canvas.
The exhibition has homed in on the desire among London art fans to visit an exhibition of the fairytale-style art so common on the US west Coast art scene.
The exhibit includes works by artists like Matthew Bone, Jada Klara and Zoe Lacchei, who all share an ethereal style, painting bright pictures of mythical creatures and cartoon-like scenes full of wonder and childish imagery.
The exhibition is taking place until 24 August at London Miles Gallery and focuses on the LA street art scene that has produced this candy-cane style of fairy art. The gallery itself has been turned into a girly world, with ice cream lights and fluffy skirting boards, which adds to the total emersion in the fantasy world of trolls, nymphs and angels that cover the canvases on the walls.
The show has been welcomed as a great antidote to dreary London on a showery, grey summer’s day. Critic, Katuschka, says of the show, “ It's honestly some of the most inspiring work I've viewed in a while.”
