The prize for biggest Beatles fan is sure to go to artist Anthony Brown who last week opened his exhibition of canvas prints and paintings documenting the entire history of the band.
Brown spent over 40 years collecting newspapers, photographs, memorabilia, reproductions, certificates, song lyrics and magazines to create a montage which he then used as a basis for his canvas paintings. Every aspect of the life and work of the Beatles is apparently covered in Brown’s collection of canvas prints and paintings.
The exhibition is appropriately located just yards from where the Beatles’ career first started: at The Gallery in the Hard Days Night Hotel, in Liverpool’s North John Street.
Jonathan Davies, director, Hard Days Night Hotel, said: “The Beatles are the most famous group to ever grace the British music scene and we are dedicated at Hard Days Night Hotel to honour them whenever we can.
"At The Gallery we want to display the best Beatles artwork and in Anthony Brown’s collection of canvas portraits we have done that."
The exhibition will run until 28th August 2009 and the Gallery will also sell the complete range of Anthony Brown merchandise, including limited edition prints, canvas prints and collector's fine bone china.
